Unique Listener figures are estimates derived from technical listening activity rather than a direct count of individual people.

Because streaming systems rely on identifiers such as:

  • Listener IDs,
  • Device information,
  • IP addresses,
  • Session behaviour;

The reported numbers can change even when your station output and overall listening behaviour appear broadly consistent.

Factors such as:

  • Device switching,
  • Mobile network changes,
  • App reinstalls,
  • Platform behaviour,
  • Reporting methodology updates;

can all influence how unique audiences are estimated over time.

This is a normal characteristic of digital audio analytics and is not usually an indication that something is wrong with your stream or reporting.
