If you are having issues saving your stream recordings to USB from Caster using the local recording functionality, this guide is intended to help you troubleshoot the cause of the issue.

The USB drive is not fast enough

We recommend USB 3.0 drives or higher from good quality brands like Sandisk or Kingston. USB drives with slower read/write speeds may not be able to write recordings successfully.

The USB drive does not have enough available space

Long audio recordings will require a good amount of space to save onto your drive successfully.

The USB drive is not formatted correctly

Ensure your drive is formatted as MS-DOS (FAT32).

The stream was not stopped.

Recorded files are downloaded to external drives only once the stream has been stopped. Make sure you stop the stream and await the success message in the Caster UI before removing the drive.
