Timbre allows you to create as many themes as you need to suit your podcast's branding. Themes allow you to select a player's colour palette, stylistic preferences, slim or square player, as well as whether certain player elements are visible or hidden.

Episode Player

To preview the player for an individual episode in your podcast, head to the actions dropdown on any listed episode and click “Embed”.

You can view the appearance of the player for the selected episode, a direct link for the player and the embed code for the player so you can put it on your site or blog.

If your episode has chapter markers, these will appear as dots below the progress bar/waveform. Hovering over the chapter will reveal its name (pictured). Clicking will continue playback from the marker’s position.

If you would like to learn more about how to use chapters within your content, please visit our Chapters article.

Podcast Player

To preview the player for a podcast, head to the sharing tab in any of your podcasts. You can view the appearance of the player for the selected podcast, a direct link for the player and the embed code for the player so you can put it on your site or blog.

The podcast player will display the top episode in the list (based on the episode ordering preference for the podcast). When one episode has finished playing, the next episode in the list will automatically begin.

Themes

With Timbre themes you are able to change the look of both the square and slim player options by adding a new theme which allows you to customise the player colours and add/remove download and sharing features. You can save multiple themes to your account.

Themes are saved on a customer level and cannot be overridden on an item or feed level. Previewing the player, as shown above, for an item or feed allows you to select a different theme for the player. You can then copy the embed code to add to your website or blog.

On the preview window, click “+ add theme” to go to the “Embed Themes” settings.

To add a theme, select “Customise”. Here you can choose to add/remove the following options:

  • Artwork (if deselected, the square view will show the block background colour);
  • Description;
  • Download button;
  • Sharing options;
  • Waveform (if selected, the navigation bar will display a waveform of the audio file); and
  • Chapters.

You can also select a border-radius: a value of 0 px means the player's corners will be square and the higher the number, the more round the corners (20 px maximum).

Player themes are specific to the type of player selected, slim or square and are visible to all users under a customer.

Colours

Here you can customise the colour scheme. To add your own colours, uncheck “default” for each player element and select a colour using the colour picker.

Player Colour Elements

Shown above is an indication of what colours you can change for your customised Timbre theme.

With the colour picker, you are able to choose your customised colour for your background, border, accent and text.

To view the changes, click “Update Preview”.

If you are happy with your new theme click “Save as Theme”. You’ll get the option to add a name and description to help you recall the theme later when choosing themes for your players.
